C. Nicholas Fossett was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. After high school, Mr. Fossett attended undergraduate school at Oral Roberts University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History. He then attended graduate school at Xavier University and received a Master of Arts in European Historiography. In 2001, Mr. Fossett received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Toledo College of Law and obtained his license to practice law later that same year. During law school, Mr. Fossett received Dean's List Honors and was both a participant and coach in the University of Toledo College of Law's Moot Court Program.

After law school, Mr. Fossett practiced law with the Clarksville, Tennessee law firm of Batson, Nolan, Brice & Williamson and later served as Assistant General Counsel for the State of Tennessee, Department of Children's Services. He practices law in all areas of civil litigation, including but not limited to, domestic relations, real estate, medical malpractice, contract and personal injury.
Mr. Fossett is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, Maury County Bar Association, Maury County Young Lawyer's Association and the Maury County chapter of Kiwanis International. Mr. Fossett and his wife Erin currently reside in Columbia with their two daughters, Katelyn and Kristin.
